Sampling
Sampling, it turns out, is nothing like swatching. As in, it's fun!
O.M.G. This Oatmeal BFL is heaven! I think I could actually spin 2 pounds of 3-ply, especially for October Frost. I did a little 3-ply and a tiny bit of 2-ply with the leftovers from two bobbins and I am IN LOVE.
Now you may ask, Sopranospinner, when will you ever get enough time at the wheel to spin 2 pounds of anything? I don't know. But I will, that I do know. The rest of this lovely stuff can go to sock yarn with joy and gladness. I also have some clean, dry fleece to card and some Fawn Corriedale to try out. I think I will love them all, but none so much as my Oatmeal BFL. My heart goes pitty-pat...

What exactly is sampling? I'm sure it's obvious to everyone but me, but I'm unclear as to whether you're trying sections of roving you have on hand or if someone has sent you different fibers, etc. Wish you were closer, I'd love a spinning lesson from someone who knows how to spin properly. Any chance of y'all moving to the Portland area? We have lots of yarn stores! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend with your family.
I'm just trying out little bits of what I've got in different combinations, but only a few yards at a time. Of course, I'm lazy so when I got yarns I liked the first time, I quit for the day. But I don't have too much time on my own for projects like this anyway (excuses, excuses).
Having a nice under scheduled weekend, yes, thanks! For once. I have all kinds of stuff next week and some logistical difficulties, but things are beginning to wind down. If only the city pool would open before June 14th but no.
Oh, and I would love to come to Portland for any reason, not just to have a spinning day! It's very hard to get away, though, as I'm sure you understand. DH works evenings and weekends usually. But thanks for the invite and the encouragement!
