Didn't do it

I had coffee yesterday, I had coffee already this morning. Addicted, that's me. I think it makes me tireder, though. Unfortunately (??!) my best friend will probably bring me iced coffee at 7:30 tomorrow morning and so it just goes on and on. Sunday I won't have any. I'll see if the swimming schedule keeps me off it for a few days next week to detox.

I'm still knitting the second heel, hence no photos. But I'm close. I did not knit a lot on the sock yesterday, nor did I spin. I was busy driving kids around and such and read too many blogs. I'm going to try to stay off the computer till dinner time now so's I can get more done.

I'm very happy to say that Star has taken me up on my offer to drive her fair entries to Pomona. Perhaps I can induce her to join me on Spinning Contest Day, as my friend who went with me last year has moved to Indiana (boo-hoo). We had such a great time last year! She was a perfect fair companion, not bored with my stuff, went off on her own when she wanted to, stopped for onion rings, the whole nine yards. I miss you, Jan! It was a great day at the fair. Too bad they are not having the Fleece Auction this year, though. But I still have plenty of smelly fleece in the garage from last year. I'm resolved not to buy any more till I've washed that lot up, but I have gotten some samples from farms so I have some places I'm not afraid to order from on the web. Let you know when I do!

Anyway, I hope to show some progress tomorrow. Happy knitting and spinning!

When exactly are you going to the fair? I might go with you, if you need a 'fair' friend? (I have fair skin...) I haven't been to the fair since Sarah was about 3 or 4. Are you going sans kids?

As for coffee, sometimes I think it actually does make me tireder - when I am working, it's like nectar of the gods, y'know, but if I have the chance to go home and nap, I seem to sleep like a baby after a nice cup of coffee (iced, extra extra sweet with cream) It just depends- sometimes it makes me wired and jittery and sometimes it makes me logy and sleepy.

#2 sock cuff is going slowly. I whipped thru this part on #2. I look forward to under the cuff, the leg, when I can just knit, not k2p2. Plus, it's hard to watch 'So you think you can dance' while knitting... it's a watching show, instead of a listening show.

I hear 291 has an ice cream party tomorrow. I will probably spend the entire weekend at the pool - it's so @$#@#(&*! hot out there... Will we see you on Sunday there?

knit on, oh knitting master,

your sock pupil,

The fair sounds like loads of fun. I've taken my family with me but they all hate the fibery, sewing, cooking stuff. The girls want rides and junk food and my husband just wants to go home and get away from the crowd. I've found, especially in later years, that I need the coffee, but that if I don't drink extra water right before and/or after the coffee that I don't feel well. Unfortunately, I also get headaches if I totally skip my caffeine. The latter issue, combined with the fact that I just LOVE coffee keeps me drinking it, I just have a cup of really hot water while it's brewing. Heck, I'm obviously an addict, so don't listen to me!

I don't know exactly when I'll go to the fair, although the family will probably go on Sept. 20th (a Wednesday) as that is Knitting Contest day so I will have a free ticket and free parking in the Sheraton lot, ooh! Spinning contest day has yet to be announced, but I will go that day without entanglements, as it were. Feel free to join in (or drive, as I have no air conditioning). I will give you gas money...I should also have a pass and a parking pass that day, as well.

Second socks are often faster. I bet the foot takes less time this go round.

We're thinking of moving the ice cream party to the pool, since it would be so excruciating in a backyard. I haven't heard Jill's final word yet, though. I will be there on Sunday regardless.

On the swimming front, Meaghan passed all of level 2 except Endurance, I am so amazed and proud! Jerod said he was really surprised how much she learned in the two weeks.

Heide, the fair is great, my DH is very supportive of my fibery stuff but it's hard to do with one adult, so I usually go twice so I can go without the family (last year I went three times!). But they love to see my sockies in the display case.

We do take a day off school as the weekends are HIDEOUSLY CROWDED). On a Wednesday, there are no lines for the rides and we get unlimited bracelets and do whatever strikes our fancy, fun times!

Coffee wise, the funny thing is I only really like it in the morning. After that it's tea for me all the way. I had a small cup of coffee this morning and did better. It might be the refill that's getting me down (Western bagel has free refills as long as you're there). I can't give up the caffeine, but I will take your advice and do more water, always a good idea that I forget about. Thanks!

If I am not working (since it will be during school), and by that I mean a long term situation, I would be happy to drive and go with you! That would be fun! Keep me posted on the date!

I think that Heidi is on to something. Coffee is a diuretic. I drink a ton of water all day (I think it's from having lived in Arizona) but coffee makes you 'go', y'know. So, if you drink a bunch of water along with your coffee, that might help. I had a professor who said that a headache is the body's way of saying "I'm getting dehydrated!" So get some water. I bet it helps! Smart Heidi!

Yay for the swimmers! My girly got all check marks in level four except for endurance... That's always the biggest obstacle! I could tell your girl was prime to learn!

See you at the pool... either tomorrow or the next day!

Yeah, I know about the diuretic thing. I was completely off caffeine for quite a few years when the singing was more of a focus in New York. I have been on my post-nursing binge, as I said, so I'm probably about ready to cut down again. Or drink more water. Which would you pick...yeah, water sounds good.

I'm so jealous of all the "going somewhere with someone, but no children talk." Living out of state from all friends and family has some disadvantages :)

Have fun at the fair!

Keep firmly in mind that 1) this happens once a year; and 2) DH calls to see when I'll be home. I am hoping to get to the adult camping weekend for our Girl Scout service unit this year, though, in September, so maybe twice a year. Someday...someday...I will attend SOAR. A week...spinning...alone...

Have a great day!

I didn't realize onion rings are part of the deal. I'd LOVE to go! (just kidding - I want to go either way)

It would be so fun to go to the fair and focus on all the fiber stuff. I don't know how many of us there are but I also volunteer to drive. I have AC but my car is really small though.

Okay, if you've got 5 squares, I hereby declare that you need to join the knitalong! Put the button on your blog, if you want, and can I have permission to add you to my blogroll? If so, what name should I use on the link?

Star, Onion rings are ESSENTIAL...and also really yummy! We will make a plan. Driving would be great. There might be three or four of us going together so we will have to see closer to the day whose car will go. Too bad we won't be coming home with fleeces this year :(.

Okay, Shelly, I will join but I'm joining under protest. I am SO not supposed to be knitting these cute and totally addictive squares (and I was SO mad I forgot to bring them to swimming lessons this morning). I'll also try to remember how to add a button.

Tbanks for stopping by!

P.S. Am I supposed to comment back to you on my blog or on your blog, I really don't know the etiquette when we are reading each other's. Anyone?

Oh, Shelly, you can add me to your blogroll as Progressive Purls, if you like. I've only ever been on one blogroll before, this is exciting!

I'm getting really excited about this fair business and meeting new spinning pals too!

I also get confused where to answer/comment on things!
