Sad news
My friend and fellow choir member's grandson lost both legs this week in a bombing in Iraq.
When will it end? When will they stop sacrificing other people's children to try to prove what big men they are? They are not. They are small, petty, petulant children who don't know how to do anything right.
When will it end?
If you pray, please pray for Travis and Marilyn. Or send good thoughts. Or whatever you do. They could use it!

My thoughts and prayers are with him and all of the service men and women throughout that region. My cousin is a Lt. Col. with the Stryker brigade and he returned from Baghdad 2 days ago following multiple tours and extensions. My husband's full time job is working for an Air National Guard unit. I always worry about him being sent into harm's way. My opinion is that the media needs to draw the public's focus on the injured and maimed returning from that region. Too many people need constant reminding to remain aware. Furthermore, more people, regardless of political beliefs, need to help these returning people out. Even those not physically injured are returning home with mental trauma and/or to find their civilian jobs no longer exist. Sorry, this is a soap box that I could stay on for days. As a nation we should be ashamed of the way our military is treated... to include being misused so irresponsibly by an egotistical maniac.
Please tell me this is not Carrie Gaspar's serviceman.
I am so sorry to hear about your friend's son.
We have no reason to continue to send our men and women to the Middle East, other than the vanity and stupidity of some elected officials, who have trampled much of the Bill of Rights in the name of 'Homeland Security' - which is about the most jingoistic phrase I can remember since Joe McCarthy.
Ahem. You may now resume your calmer knitting and spinning. Thank you for posting on my blog, and I'm going to enjoy reading yours.
That is just terrible - I am so sorry.
