I've never heard people claim that McCain is a maverick. In fact, I've heard opposite accusations that he's more of a milquetoast. He's not conservative enough to please the right wing. And nobody associated with the Republican party can ever overcome the stigma of being associated with GW in the eyes of the Democrats. I must agree, that connection is a tough row to hoe, kind of like political suicide. And considering Huckabee is a contender, this knowledge is reassuring. I'd consider emigration if that fellow sat in the oval office. Sorry, I try not to talk politics because candidates seldom appeal to me. Even those who espouse the most ideal rhetoric and have the best intentions seldom have effective or realistic plans for implementing change. We have an ingrained system that tends to stall and quash all attemps at an overhaul. I find this very frustrating. Hopefully people smarter than I (and lord knows that's just about everyone) will come up with some steadfast solutions to at least some of our country's problems. In the meantime, let's just keep chanting the mantra 01/21/09... the day of hope!
